What makes Miraa different from other therapists?

Miraa’s approach to therapy and counselling is premised on an authentic human relationship between therapist and individual where the person can feel safe, understood and respected as an equal. She is passionate about the power of building a holistic foundation that takes into consideration mind, body, and spirit. From this foundation, it is then possible to explore the issues each client brings to the session within the context of her/his life and tailor therapeutic interventions to the uniqueness of each person.

Therapeutic Approach

Miraa’s primary therapy approach is drawn from the Emotionally Focus Therapy (EFT), Strengths-based Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Miraa has been trained and works from a variety of clinical treatments including, but not limited, Interpersonal therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and the application of Neuroscience in therapy. She draws on all forms of therapeutic modalities, as is best suited to your particular difficulties and what fits best for you. Miraa believes in a holistic approach, addressing mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs, with a therapeutic emphasis on the role of a healthy spirit in healing.

“Therapy not only examines our life but also strengthens and uncovers our relationship with our soul.” Miraa Best

Therapeutic Purpose

Being Known

To be known by another person is to be open, vulnerable and willing to share your story with another who is trustworthy, understanding and unafraid of your most hidden secrets.

Being Aware

How well am I paying attention to what my mind is paying attention to? How connected am I to the sensations and emotions I can feel in my body? Becoming more self-aware begins with being curious and asking ourselves good questions.

Being Connected

Humans naturally seek meaningful connection. As we build on our relationship to our self we also draw closer to one another as friends, spouses, families, co-workers and communities.

Being Educated

To Learn new skills and grow in knowledge tends to lead to less anxiety and builds on a greater sense of motivation and self-control.
